Sharing Website Extends Reach of Family Videos to Far Flung Members
FREMONT, CA - April 24, 2006 -- InterVideo®, Inc. (NASDAQ: IVII) and its partner Ulead® Systems, Inc. and DropShots, an Internet video and picture hosting service, today announced a free subscription offer for buyers of the latest version of InterVideo Ulead's consumer video editing software, VideoStudio®.
Users who purchase VideoStudio 10 or VideoStudio 10 Plus during the first 6 weeks of availability will receive a free 6-month Star User account to DropShots online video sharing service, valued at approximately US$30.
"VideoStudio 10 is the ideal software for editing video clips to share with family and friends," said Blake Prescott, Partnerships head at DropShots. "Users new to video editing can use the Movie Wizard to quickly capture their clips, trim them and then apply a template that will automatically add titles, background music and transitions, ready for upload to our site."
"We're seeing a shift in how people share their digital content with each other," said Eldon C. M. Liu, president of Ulead. "The days of creating a family video and having to invite the family over to watch it, are past. Sending Grandma and Grandpa a DVD is not the only option. Now, users can upload their family videos to a hosting site, and simply e-mail a link to their friends and relatives to watch it in the comfort of their own homes, no matter the distance."
DropShots is specifically aimed at people sharing video with family and friends. It's a friendly, non-geeky site that makes it very easy to upload and watch video clips and picture albums. It hosts more than 300,000 video clips and more than 3 million photographs. DropShots offers its service free for up to 500 photos and 10 video clips, and does not feature commercial material. However, subscribers can upgrade to "Star User Account" status for just US$4.95 per month, allowing for unlimited uploads of photos and videos.
